To put it diplomatically, this is basically a light-hearted movie (One of those that you would watch after a hard day's work - just basically cos you don't need brains to enjoy it)
To put it otherwise... well it's not exactly a very intellectual or stimulating storyline... to sum it up in a nut shell... there are 2 identical cats, one of whom we all know as GARFIELD... the other is a 'Royal' cat known as Prince.
The old senile owner of Prince goes and leaves all her wealth to her fav. Kitty after her death... thus leaving her of cos evil nephew scheming after the property... He goes way out to get rid of Prince who he traps in a basket and dumps into the river...
Enters Garfield who is just roaming the streets of London..and as fate would have it...is mistaken as the lost Prince by his anxious butler... the real Prince is of cos found and mistaken for Garfield... (pity they dun wear dog/cat tags - they would otherwise have prevented the mistaken identity right?)
So Garfield gets into the castle and irritates the shit out of the evil nephew much to his chagrin while Prince falls in love with Lasagne while still pinning for his home...
The movie reaches its peak when finally both kitties meet up, realizes the devious plan of the nephew and joins forces to kick his ass and while they are at it... induce a ferocious Rottweiler to attack the *ahem* crotch of the deserving b$55sta5d.
As with all cartoons, alls well ends well, Prince regains his inheritance and Garfield lives happily after with odie and jon...and oh yah... Jon proposes to girlfriend Liz in this movie...
